  • Verify accuracy of:
    1. One-line diagrams
    2. Inverter and equipment ratings
    3. Conductor sizing and OCPD
    4. Grounding and bonding
    5. Rapid shutdown compliance
  • Perform basic electrical calculations, including:
    1. DC string voltage and current
    2. AC output current
    3. NEC 120 percent busbar rule
  • Identify service panel limitations and flag designs requiring:
    1. Service upgrades
    2. Line-side taps
    3. Engineering escalation

Structural and Site Review

  • Review site survey photos to assess:
    1. Roof type, condition, and layout
    2. Mounting feasibility and obstructions
    3. Fire access and setback requirements
  • Verify structural details match engineering assumptions:
    1. Attachment spacing
    2. Mounting methods by roof type
    3. Wind and snow load notes
  • Identify conditions requiring reroofing, additional engineering, or design revision

Permit and AHJ Readiness

  • Ensure plan sets are complete, consistent, and permit-ready
  • Verify labeling, notes, and diagrams align across all sheets
  • Identify common AHJ rejection risks before submission
  • Document design issues clearly and provide corrective guidance

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in solar PV design, review, or electrical drafting
  • Working knowledge of:
    1. NEC solar requirements, U.S. codes
    2. Residential electrical systems
    3. Solar inverters and mounting systems
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    1. One-line diagrams
    2. Site survey photos
    3. Structural details
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S.-based solar installers or EPCs
  • Familiarity with common AHJ requirements and utility interconnections
  • Experience reviewing failed permits or inspection corrections
  • Knowledge of batteries and energy storage systems
  • Prior QA or design review experience

Tools and Skills

  • Plan review software or PDF markup tools
  • Solar design platforms such as Aurora, HelioScope, OpenSolar, Solo, or similar
  • Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Clear written communication in English

Performance Metrics

  • Accuracy of issue identification
  • Reduction in permit rejections and corrections
  • Adherence to review timelines
  • Quality and clarity of reviewer comments
  • Escalation of safety or compliance risks

What Success Looks Like
